Low THC oil or medical cannabis oil is derived from the marijuana plant.

What is the law in Georgia regarding low THC oil? Dr/ Rudert answers:

The law in Georgia presently allows certain qualified persons in Georgia to legally possess up to 20 ounces of low THC oil. If you qualify, the Georgia Department of Public Health will issue you a "Low THC Registry card" which allows you to legally possess the oil. Georgia law is currently more limited than other state's medical marijuana laws.

How do I qualify for low THC oil?

Dr. Rudert answers:

You must be diagnosed by a physician and currently undergoing treatment for one of approximately 15 conditions that qualify for low THC oil. In the state of Georgia, your physician must be registered with the Georgia Department of Public Health and must be treating the patient for the specific condition listed. The card is $25 and will be good for 2 years.

What gastroenterology conditions are covered in qualifiying for low THC oil?

Dr. Rudert answers:

Presently Crohn's disease, end stage cancers (of all kinds) or cancer when the treatment results in weight loss or continued nausea and vomiting. My Crohn's patients have found THC oil to be a very welcome option and many have certainly improved or stabilized. Also qualifiying are all patients in an inpatient or outpatient hospice program. It does not help everyone.

Please discuss your options with a registered physician. Only physicians registered with the low THC registry and are certified can participate. The process of obtaining THC oil for a patient's qualifying medical condition has to be initiated by a participating physician.
